When Jon Shaffer was in Fifth Grade, his teacher told him to look at a poster which had a list of professions on it.  She then asked him what he wanted to do when he grew up.  As Jon scanned the different jobs available, his eyes lit up with excitement as he read the word ‘Pilot’.  He was instantly swallowed into the world of aviation and has never looked back.

Jon Shaffer entered the US Navy in 2000 as an electrician.  While serving, he decided it was time to attain his goal of becoming a professional pilot.  He attended Northwest Aviation College in Auburn, Washington, where he received a degree in Aviation Technology, along with his private pilot, commercial pilot, and flight instructor certificates, as well as his instrument and multi-engine ratings.

Jon’s love for flying is shown through his wide variety of flying experience.  He is a member of the National Ultra-light Association and spends countless flight hours flying in Idaho’s backcountry.  Jon has been a corporate pilot, freight pilot, and has over 1000 hours of flight instructor experience. He specializes in helping students attain their Sport Pilot certificate and Instrument rating.  Jon has a true passion for aviation and hopes to pass his knowledge, experience, and love of aviation to you.
